You Know Where I’ll Be (Lead Guitars: John Brittingham) Odd Instruments: Slide Electric Guitar, Crappy Casio Keyboard, Reed Organ, 12-string Electric Guitar Gather all your things and leave them by the street Wherever there’s a will, there’s a way Even lightening finds its way to the ground Don’t let anybody tell you what you need I pine away and I try to hear your voice So give an ear and try to filter out the noise One of the first songs I wrote for the album. A love song I imagine
that the human God may sing to His creation. I was influenced by Derek
Webb's (formerly of Caedmon's Call) solo project "She Must and
Shall Go Free" a lot while I was writing this album, especially
around the time I wrote this song. There is a line in the song "Beloved"
that says something like this: "Don't you ever let anyone tell
you that there's anything that you need but me." Those words
fell on me like a piano down a staircase. And you can see where I
borrowed that concept liberally in this song. Thanks to John Brittingham
for adding a little of "The Boss" into this one... I like
it anyway. The slide part sounds a lot like something Ryan Adams and
the Cardinals would do. Peace. |
