You Know Where I’ll Be

(Lead Guitars: John Brittingham)

Odd Instruments: Slide Electric Guitar, Crappy Casio Keyboard, Reed Organ, 12-string Electric Guitar

Gather all your things and leave them by the street
You know where I’ll be
Get up off your knees and follow me
You know where I’ll be

Wherever there’s a will, there’s a way
I want you to find me
From where I stand, there’s no other way
You’ll know where I’ll be.

Even lightening finds its way to the ground
Find your way to me
Even fire knows that it too can drown
Drown yourself in me

Don’t let anybody tell you what you need
I know that you need me
Cuz love came packaged in greed
You were made for me
You know where I’ll be.

I pine away and I try to hear your voice
When its not cursing me
I want to let my angels rejoice
If you’d only speak to me

So give an ear and try to filter out the noise
Cuz silence was the killer of me
You know that I have no other choice
If I want you to be free

One of the first songs I wrote for the album. A love song I imagine that the human God may sing to His creation. I was influenced by Derek Webb's (formerly of Caedmon's Call) solo project "She Must and Shall Go Free" a lot while I was writing this album, especially around the time I wrote this song. There is a line in the song "Beloved" that says something like this: "Don't you ever let anyone tell you that there's anything that you need but me." Those words fell on me like a piano down a staircase. And you can see where I borrowed that concept liberally in this song. Thanks to John Brittingham for adding a little of "The Boss" into this one... I like it anyway. The slide part sounds a lot like something Ryan Adams and the Cardinals would do. Peace.
